Crown

Crowns are the top, hard, outer shell of a tooth that covers, protects, seals and strengthens the tooth. Because it’s the only part of the tooth that cannot repair itself, when damaged from decay or injury, a new crown may have to be created. The new crown fits over the entire top of the tooth just like your original crown.

Same day crowns are now possible using our CEREC milling unit.

New crowns are needed when a normal filling will not work. A crown may be made of white porcelain in-office or by a lab. There are many situations when a new crown may be needed:

Dr. Lavu uses CAD-CAM technology to custom-fabricate and cement a porcelain crown in the same visit. This pain-free procedure takes an image of your tooth, which is then sent to the CEREC for fabrication. The entire process can occur in one visit – saving you time, pain, and inconvenience.

How does it work?

First, we scan your tooth which is clean, fast and comfortable rather than take a conventional impression. Next, a custom restoration is designed to fit your unique smile. Then, your crown, filling or veneers are created with a state-of-the-art milling unit right in our office. The final restoration is placed in your mouth the same day which is aesthetically and metal-free restoration will match the look of your teeth for a beautiful, natural smile.
